GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under general supervision of the Eligibility Referral Supervisor, the Assistant Administrator, or the Training Supervisor, the Income Maintenance Service Representative provides support to the Income Maintenance unit by interviewing clients and making accurate eligibility determinations for public assistance programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of secondary education or equivalent (high school diploma or GED), completion of an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university preferred; one (1) or more years of related experience and/or training; previous experience and/or training as a Case Aide; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:  For purposes of 42 USC 12101

Interviews applicants to determine initial eligibility and to re-determine ongoing eligibility for Public  Assistance through telephone or office interviews; computes applicant complex budgets; verifies documentation submitted to support requests for assistance; reads and understands legal and financial documents (trusts, tax records, mutual fund statements, contracts, life insurance policies, real property sales; and guardianship custody and support orders); assists with completion of applications; conducts screening of applicants; approves or denies applications, determines eligibility within mandated timeframes; explains applicant rights and responsibilities, procedures, programs, and other available services; refers applicants to other units of the Agency or Social Service programs or Agencies; safeguards IEVS materials and follows HIPPA guidelines. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Performs other related duties as necessary.

Modern computer skills and computer applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office; carry out instructions in written, oral, or picture form; deal with many variables and determine specific action; maintain confidentiality.
