Dairy Farmers of America Production Operator- Night Shift in Fallon, Nevada

Position : Production Operator- Night Shift

General Purpose:

Perform as a member of the Operations Team. Work hourly functions and cross-train in various positions that include the raw milk receiving, evaporator department, and dryer department. Input items into the SAP system. Live the Mission/Vision/Core Values of Dairy Farmers of America.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Raw Milk Receiving Department

  • Unload tankers

  • Control heat treatment and milk separation area. CIP and production

  • Control blending and preparation of Lactose totes for production

  • Ensure tankers unloaded safely and properly while achieving minimum established targets

  • CIP tankers and silos

  • Properly CIP silos and tankers maintaining time management of silos and all associated documentation

  • Load out cream. Load out cream while achieving all quality and customer requirements

  • Complete master sanitation

  • Complete all master sanitation and maintain a clean and professional environment

  • Control loss

  • Actively seek causes and solutions to limit product losses

  • Inspect raw materials

Evaporator Department

  • Produce a quality product

  • Ensure all product produced is within accepted specifications

  • Start, run, and shut down the evaporator

  • Operate the evaporator and all associated equipment while producing minimal out of specification product

  • Run all required quality checks. Complete all required logs

  • CIP the evaporator and all associated equipment

  • CIP all equipment associated with evaporator performance

  • Perform all chemical tests

  • Complete and store all required documents

  • Achieve all production goals

  • Achieve all production goals (KPI's). Report and document all reasons targets are not met

Dryer Department

  • Maintain a clean and sanitary environment

  • Perform all master sanitation

  • Maintain general housekeeping of the dryer area

  • Perform tasks required to start, run, and shut down the dryer

  • Perform hook-ups for the dryer and all associated equipment

  • Run all required quality checks

  • Complete all required logs

  • Perform duties in a timely and thorough manner allowing the operator to CIP the dryer in minimal time

  • Perform all chemical tests

  • Complete and store all required documents

  • Achieve all production goals (KPI's). Report and document all reasons targets are not met

Packaging Department

  • Produce a quality product

  • Ensure all product produced is within accepted specifications

  • Start, run, and shut down the packaging equipment

  • Operate the packaging and all associated equipment while producing minimal out of specification product

  • Run all required quality checks

  • Complete all required logs

  • Maintain the packaging equipment and all associated equipment

  • Maintain all equipment associated with packaging performance

  • Complete and store all required documents.

  • Achieve all production goals (KPI's). Report and document all reasons targets are not met

  • Inspect raw materials

General for all Departments

  • Follow and promote all plant and regulatory policies and procedures

  • Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement to include Lean, Kaizen, 5S and Leader Standard Work

  • Attend required training, including but not limited to, GMP's, HAACP, SQF, Safety, etc.

  • Maintain safe work habits, wear personal protective equipment, obey safety rules, and overall contribute to a safe work environment

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Prior manufacturing experience preferred

  • Certification and/or License --

  • Nevada Department of Public Health Milk Sampler Certification

  • Certified Industry Analyst certification for PMO Appendix-N testing of Drug Residue in Milk

  • SQF Practitioner Certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Able to learn and apply to plant environment

  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Able to perform basic PC skills

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

  • Must be able to lift 55 lbs consistently
