About the Role
The Collector reports to the Supervisor of Meter Services at Bermex and works closely with the companys customers to provide payment options and ensure payment of their outstanding delinquent account. This position provides quality customer service by responding to and resolving questions and problems related to a wide variety of customer-related functions in person, by telephone, electronically, and by written correspondence. This position also requires a high degree of attention to detail, excellent customer service, and exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
What Youll Do
Manage collections on customer accounts:
Physically collect payments at customers service address
Manually disconnect gas meters if payment is not made
Research customer account history for payment plan options in person or on the phone
Contact customers with notice of potential legal collection action upon shut-off

``` - Process disconnection notices to delinquent customers, including mail disconnect notices and physical shut off (requires scheduling with field technician or utility collector for dispatch to customer location for shut-off notice delivery)
Contact customers via phone and/or letter for collection during disconnect notice period
Process customer names, mailing addresses, and profile changes
Assist customers with website troubleshooting, i.e., passwords, registration, etc.
Coordinate scheduling with field technician or utility collector for dispatch to customer location for shut-off notice delivery

``` - May walk for long distances in various weather conditions (rain, sleet, hail, snow, extreme heat or cold, etc.)
- Exert physical force moving objects (routinely 10lbs. of force, up to an occasional 50lbs. of force)
Customer evaluation:
Evaluate credit history and collect deposit if applicable
Monitor customer credit worthiness and deposit requirement process because of the customers credit history

``` - Review customer receivable balances for potential collection concerns
- Review, understand and ensure compliance with jurisdictional regulatory requirements for billing and collection activities
Customer communication:
Initiate all types of service orders for customers
Provide excellent customer service for incoming and outbound calls regarding customer accounts; resolve inquiries and provide billing and payment information, account balances, past due amounts, budget billing, automatic bank drafts, payment plans and all types of adjustments

``` - Meet customer requirements through first contact resolution
- Confirm customer understanding of the solution and provide additional customer education as needed

About You
Must haves:
Education: Some high school education. Must be 18 years or older
Experience: No experience required, employeeswill be trained. Upon hire, the candidate will need to complete and pass all Pipeline Operator Qualification (OQ) training
Nice to haves:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: At least 2 years of customer service experience related to collections
Your Skills:
Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with manageme t and customers
Excellent attention to detail for problem solving and finding
Ability to multi-task, and work independently and as a team
Ability to learn new computer programs and industry related information
