JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

This opening reports to the Director, School of Business Administration (SBA). The purpose is to attract qualified domestic and international students for the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS), and Master of Professional Accounting (MPACC) programs. The opening requires an energetic and self-directed professional that can engage with business and industry partners (private, public, and educational) to recruit new graduate students. Approximately 20-24 hours per week.

Job DutiesParticipate in planning the SBA marketing and recruiting strategies for assigned graduate programs.

  • Execute strategies and use metrics to gauge effectiveness.

  • Adjust activities as necessary.

Promote SBA graduate programs at offsite events such as education fairs, conferences, and corporate site visits.

  • Actively engage prospects.

  • Conduct individual follow-up appointments and group information sessions.

  • Organize and/or participate in graduate recruiting events on campus.

  • Arrange for publicity, meeting space, speakers, and refreshments within limits of marketing and recruiting budgets.

  • Organize and/or participate in graduate recruiting events off campus in the Central PA region and virtual environments, such as Zoom.

  • Attend events both in-person and via Zoom sponsored by the Admissions Office to attract new graduate students.

  • Promptly respond to inquiries and follow up on leads.

  • Work directly with professors-in-charge of the three graduate programs (MBA, MSIS, MPACC) to identify and plan strategies to attract and retain graduate students.

  • Advise prospective students on program offerings and requirements, admission standards, and application procedures.

  • Evaluate student admission portfolio, and disseminate information regarding necessary foundational courses, standardized testing, and language proficiency testing.

  • Provide prospective students with insights on the Penn State Harrisburg SBA graduate student experience.

  • Prepare periodic reports on marketing, recruiting, and admissions.

  • Collaborate with the Kunkel Career Center, Bursar’s Office, Office of Student Aid, International Student Office, Graduate Admissions Office, The Graduate School at Penn State, and other offices as necessary to engage and nurture relationships; and to refer prospective students to information sources for career services, tuition, scholarships, financial aid, housing, social/community opportunities, advising, and registration processes.

  • Create and strengthen networks with local corporations, organizations, SBA alumni, and partner universities and colleges. Engage with corporate members of the of the SBA Advisory Councils.

  • Survey local corporate decision makers to determine graduate educational needs and talent sourcing needs.

  • Contribute to SBA social media activities to promote assigned graduate programs and engage prospective students.

  • Develop promotional materials, including SBA graduate program brochures. Ensure accuracy of website information.

  • Engage with potential candidates using social media platforms.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • The ideal applicant will have 3-5 years of relevant experience.

  • A bachelor's degree is required, with a graduate business degree from an accredited institution preferred.

  • The ideal candidate will have strong relationship building and business development experience; knowledge of business educational needs, three graduate programs (MBA, MSIS, MPACC),and higher education industry/processes; prior higher education and/or corporate recruiting experience; ability to work independently and efficiently; strong time management and organization skills; exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in higher education and/or sales preferred.

  • Must be able to work some evenings and have flexible weekday schedules as travel is required.

  • Employment with the University for this job will require the operation of a motor vehicle as a part of the job duties. A valid US driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
