Job Title: Assistant Director - Residential Treatment
Position Summary: Ensure all children and families in residential treatment center and group homes receive the highest quality child care services in accordance with their individual needs

Gateway Longview’s Residential Treatment Services is a therapeutic intervention for youth ages 12-18 and supports them in developing the skills needed to successfully live with their families or in the community.

Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with other components of the Residential program to ensure effective treatment teaming and delivery of services consistent with holistic planning and implementation
Assist the Senior Director in the development and administration of policies and procedures for the department which ensure the highest quality of cottage and group home programming for children
Coordinate with the Senior Director of Residential and Residential Staffing and Development Manager the schedules and agendas which are integrated into the day to day programming and assist in ensuring and monitoring a shorten length of stay for youth in programming
In the absence of the Senior Director, oversee the day to day functioning of the residential treatment program.
Provide direct supervision to Residential Supervisors and ensure continuity of management staff competent in achieving objectives and carrying out responsibilities through effective selection, supervision, development, evaluation and motivation.
Conduct all initial department training of Youth Care Professionals. Provide consistent orientation and training of staff regarding all involved Residential Treatment procedures and practices including, but not limited to, all post orientation training for Residential Supervisors and Youth Care Professionals.
Actively maintain awareness of new developments in the field of child care services and incorporate such developments into the practice of the Residential Treatment where appropriate to improve the quality of services
Conduct ongoing team development and supervision to enhance the therapeutic milieu. Manage job functions within established financial limits
In conjunction with the Senior Director, co-facilitate weekly department meetings
Ensure development of published protocols for all new and/or modified departmental procedures and practices which precede their implementation. Collaboratively prepare and publish these protocols with other program areas, as needed. Ensure consistent implementation and interpretation of same
Complete required reports and documentation in timely manner. (Includes, but is not limited to: performance evaluations, strategic mapping and outcome results and case record review).
Work collaboratively with education, social work, recreation, and community organizations to ensure the highest quality of care
Assist the Senior Director with the coordination of Justice Center investigations which includes working with the Office of Child and Family Services and the Justice Center
Assist in staffing and scheduling of all units and assignments for week days and weekends
Be the primary on-call person for staffing issues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Prior knowledge of OCFS regulations
Must have excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
Ability to work independently and be an enthusiastic team player
Ability to physically restrain youth after successful completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training
Ability to work effectively with clients, staff, families, and community contacts
Qualifications
Direct care experience in human services, preferably in residential of OCFS-licensed facilities working with children and youth
At least 1 year of supervisory experience in human services, preferably in child welfare and/or clinical setting
Previous experience working with OCFS regulations
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Availability to work evening hours and weekend hours as necessary
Valid NYS Driver’s License
