Aerospace PS2 Painter - 3rd Shift Job Overview Job Title: Process Support 2 - Painter 2nd Shift Reports to: Value Stream Manager Location: Kent, WA Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly) Schedule: 3rd Shift, Graveyard: Sun 10P to 6:30A thru Friday 10P to 6:30A Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.) Job Summary Employees in this position will perform Aerospace painting on specified aerospace parts as designed on the work order and purchase order. Processes all jobs on a First In First Out Basis. Additional support will be in assisting department Paint Assistants with guidance on laying parts out on screens, transport loaded screens in and out of paint booths/ovens, and sand parts. All Department Painter's may be required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program*. Painters perform operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications. * FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial pre-employment drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing. Responsibilities Plans the production for the shift by analyzing what parts are to be painted and coordinating the flow of parts to maximize quality and productivity. Assigns tasks to lower-level employees in the department. Receives parts to be painted from paint assistant or coordinator. Verifies what processes are to be completed. Work closely with Paint Assistants and other experienced Painters and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks. Follow shop traveler, technique card, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from experienced Operators and Department Leads. Mixes paint to specifications. Paints parts with the appropriate thickness as described on the specifications. Verifies paint thickness using an Isoscope. Paints by using the best technique to maximize quality and productivity. Moves racks or parts between the staging area and oven. General review of paperwork to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors. Prepare parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning. Prepare parts as called out in Purchase Orders and Tech Cards. Perform inspection, measuring, and testing or part surfaces as required. Maintain paint guns and paint booths ensuring cleanliness at the close of shifts. Perform pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements. Follow Quality Assurance requirements. Follow safety precautions as trained. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Pre-employment and annual physical exam required; ability to wear a respirator. Must have a regular and dependable attendance record. Ability to Read/Write Communicate in English with other employees, Customers, and auditors. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening. Education/Previous Experience Requirements 3 to 5 years in Aerospace manufacturing environment; aerospace paint experience preferred.
